3 Simple Ways To Improve Your Health

Are you confused by all of the contradictory health information coming at you?  You certainly are not alone.  Fads are always on the rise (and then the inevitable fall), but luckily, there are some sound, sure-fire ways to live a healthier life — no trends needed.  In fact, ditch the fad diets and deprivation mindset once and for all.  You don’t need them.  Instead, focusing on long-term lifestyle changes and implementing small, healthy habits consistently over time will help you reach your wellness goals.  This way you will be much more likely to succeed while you enjoy the journey.  Start today by trying these three simple ways to improve your health:

Map out your goals.  When we live life without a plan, the days turn into years… and before we know it, we’ve been saying for the past five years that we wanted to start “getting healthier by....”  What healthy goals do you have for yourself?  Why do you want to reach these goals?  First focus on how you want to feel, and map out your goals from there.  For example:  if you want to feel happier — what changes will you make to achieve that?  And what steps will you take to begin that process today?

Appreciate where you are right now.  Learning to reverse any negative self-talk you engage in can be a long process, but daily practice will leave you with meaningful results.  It’s important to appreciate where you are in your journey, even if you aren’t quite where you’d like to be.  When you feel yourself beginning to engage in negative self-talk, stop the chattering non-sense in its tracks.  Instead, treat yourself with kindness and respect and practice turning the negative self-talk into something positive.

Do it for the right reasons.  As you work towards your health goals, remember that you’re working towards a greater level of health, happiness and longevity.  Just this Spring I caught myself thinking “Summer is only a few months away, I need to start working out more so I will look nice in shorts and t-shirt (or swimsuit?!)”. Just remember that your healthy efforts will keep you on track to live a longer, happier and healthier life.

There are so many ways to work on your health journey, but starting with these three tips will provide a solid foundation.  Keep your eye on the prize and you will reach it!  Accountability is a major factor in achieving your goals, so having someone you trust to guide you through this health journey is incredibly beneficial.  Join my Summer Wellness Community on Facebook and be accountable to a friendly group of like-minded people who are striving toward their wellness goals just like you.
